Dr. Aidan Hampson is the Scientific Review Officer for the Small Business Awards in Neuropharmacology & Diagnostics Study Section. Prior to coming to CSR he led the in vitro pharmacology and assay development units at Cortex Pharmaceuticals, a company focused on glutamate receptor modulators as therapeutic agents. Dr Hampson obtained his Ph.D. in marine lipid biochemistry at UC Swansea in the United Kingdom, after which he moved to SUNY StonyBrook, New York, for a postdoctoral fellowship in toxicology. Dr. Hampson then changed his area of focus to neuroscience by conducting further training in cannabinoid physiology at UC San Francisco and cannabinoid pharmacology at NIMH in the lab of Nobel Laureate, Dr. Julius Axelrod.
