Dr. Jerry L. Taylor is the Scientific Review Officer for Anterior Eye Disease Study Section. She received her Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, studying tumor virology. Following graduate school, she briefly taught at California State University at Long Beach and then moved to the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she remained for 28 years, advancing to professor of microbiology, molecular genetics and ophthalmology. Dr. Taylor’s research focused on the role of interferons in the innate immune response to herpesvirus infections, especially infection in the eye. In addition, she collaborated with others on the production of interferon standards for the NIH and the World Health Organization and in studies of antiviral metabolism in the eye.
