Dr. Kathryn Koeller is a Scientific Review Officer in the Biological Chemistry and Macromolecular Biophysics Integrated Review Group, where she runs the Synthetic and Biological Chemistry B study section. After completing undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she went on to receive a Ph.D. in chemistry from the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. Her graduate studies focused largely on chemical and enzymatic synthesis of complex oligosaccharides, glycopeptides, and aminoglycoside antibiotics. She subsequently engaged in post-doctoral research in chemical biology at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, where she investigated cell-based screening approaches toward the discovery of small molecules that alter nuclear and cytoplasmic histone deacetylase function. Prior to arriving at NIH, Dr. Koeller was an assistant professor in the chemistry department at the University of Washington-Seattle.
