Dr. Kenneth A. Roebuck is the Scientific Review
Officer (SRO) for the AIDS Molecular and Cellular Biology Study Section in the AIDS and Related Research Integrated Review Group. Dr. Roebuck received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in 1989 from the University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University, where he studied the transcriptional regulation of small nuclear RNA genes. As a postdoctoral fellow at UCSD, Dr. Roebuck began research on HIV gene expression in intestinal epithelial cells and identified a new HIV regulatory element in the viral long terminal repeat. In 1993, he moved to Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, where he continued to study gene regulation in HIV as well as proinflammatory genes such as IL-8 and ICAM-1. Dr. Roebuck has published more than 50 peer reviewed scientific articles and reviews. In 2002, he joined CSR as the SRO of the AIDS Molecular and Cellular Biology Study Section. He also oversees an AIDS Small Business Innovative Research study section.
