Michael Marino is the Scientific Review Officer for the ZRG1 GGG-J Study Section in the Genes, Genomes and Genetics IRG, and he also is a referral officer in the Division of Receipt and Referral. He received his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from American University while employed at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, where he served as deputy chief of the Developmental Branch of the DNA Identification Laboratory. Prior to employment at the NIH, he worked at the Transgenomic Corporation, where he was director of Applied Genomics and Molecular Genetics overseeing the company’s research and establishing collaborations with industry, academia and and government. His primary research focus was on development of technologies and methodologies to determine the genetic basis of disease. He has used his research and industrial experience to serve as a reviewer for the NIH and other government agencies.
